FAQs

Quick answers. Need more? Contact us.

Do I need an account to browse events?
No. You can also buy or claim tickets and join ticket waitlists by email without an account. An account is needed to save events, set follows or reminders, list an event, and manage purchased tickets in one place.
Is Brighton What’s On free to use?
Yes. Browsing and standard event listings are free. Brighton Partner is an optional plan with higher listing limits, analytics, priority support, and an included monthly Event Spotlight.
How do event submissions work?
Use Submit event. Save a draft at any time, then send the finished listing for review. Track it in My events.
Can I tell you about an event if I am not the organiser?
Yes. Use Tip us about an event with the details you know. You do not need an account, and we check the information before creating or publishing a listing. The organiser can still contact us to correct or claim it.
Why was my event rejected or returned for changes?
We may ask for clearer details, correct dates, suitable images, accurate ticket information, or changes required by our Community guidelines. The note and edit option appear in My events.
Can one event have free and paid tickets?
Yes. One event can have several ticket types, including free and paid options. Paid ticket sales stay paused until the organiser completes Stripe payout setup.
Can I list a paid event without selling tickets here?
Yes. You can list pay-on-arrival events or link to another ticket provider. Selling tickets through Brighton What’s On is optional.
How do organiser payouts work?
Set up Stripe from Manage tickets. Stripe checks the payout account and sends ticket income to the organiser’s Stripe balance. Buyers see the full ticket price and service fee before paying.
Is two-step verification required?
It is optional for customer and organiser accounts and available in My profile for extra protection. It is required for staff access.
What do organiser confirmation labels mean?
They show that Brighton What’s On has checked the account’s relationship with the named organiser or venue. They are separate from Stripe’s payout checks and are not a guarantee of event quality or delivery.
Can events repeat or span several days?
Yes. Use a date range for one continuous multi-day event, or recurring dates when the same event happens more than once. Tickets can be linked to a specific date.
Where is my ticket?
Every customer ticket is sent by email with its QR code and backup code. If you booked while signed in, or create and confirm an account afterwards, it also appears in My tickets.
How do guest tickets work?
You can buy or claim a customer ticket using only an email address. The emailed ticket works without an account. After booking, you can optionally add one password; once you confirm the same email, the purchase is attached automatically. Organisers can also assign gift tickets, whose email explains how to reveal and save them.
How do refunds and free-ticket cancellations work?
A free ticket can be cancelled from My tickets, or through the secure cancellation link in a guest ticket email, returning the place to the event. Paid refund requests follow the event policy and are reviewed by the organiser; guest buyers can create an account with their booking email to submit and manage one. See the Refund Policy.
What happens when tickets sell out?
If a waitlist is available, join it for that ticket type and date. When capacity returns, the earliest people waiting are emailed. A waitlist place does not reserve a ticket, so booking remains first come, first served.
What are imported listings?
Some events are gathered from approved public or partner sources to make local discovery more useful. They are labelled and link back to the source. Check the source before travelling or booking because details can change.
What is the difference between saving, reminding, and following?
Save keeps an event in your account. Remind me sends one email for a specific event. Following an organiser, venue, category, or neighbourhood alerts you when matching events are added.
How do email preferences work?
Marketing emails are optional. Manage them and any personal picks in Marketing preferences. Every new signup must be confirmed using the email link before marketing starts. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link.
What is Event Spotlight?
Event Spotlight is available to every organiser and promotes a live listing on the homepage and in search results for seven days. Visitors see a clear “Promoted · Ad” label there. View Event Spotlight.
How is this different from national platforms?
Brighton What’s On puts local discovery first, with Brighton & Hove listings, organiser profiles, recurring events, promotion, and secure ticketing in one place.
How do I advertise?
We offer limited placements for local businesses, tourism, venues, services, and events. Visit Advertise to enquire.
How do I delete my account or request my data?
Start account deletion in My profile. For a copy of your data or another privacy request, use Contact.
How do I get support or report a problem?
Use Contact, or Report issue on an event page. Brighton Partner accounts also include priority in-account support.
