Community Guidelines
Last updated: 10 July 2026
Why these guidelines exist
Brighton What’s On is for genuine events in Brighton, Hove and the surrounding area. These standards help us make fair, consistent decisions and keep listings useful for attendees. They apply to every organiser, listing and ticket link.
Listing standards
CG1 · Accurate event information
Use a real event title, date, venue or location, and clear details that let people decide whether to attend.
CG2 · Rights and permissions
Only submit content, images, branding and ticket links that you are authorised to use.
CG3 · Safety and lawful conduct
Do not promote violence, criminal damage, unsafe conduct or harm towards people, property or public services.
CG4 · Fair ticketing and identity
Do not impersonate others, mislead people about an event, or use unauthorised, deceptive or fraudulent ticket sales.
CG5 · Respectful content
Do not use hateful, harassing, threatening or discriminatory content, including content targeting protected groups.
CG6 · Age-appropriate content
Do not include sexually explicit, exploitative or graphic content. Clearly label lawful age restrictions where relevant.
CG7 · Spam and platform misuse
Do not post duplicate listings, content that is mainly advertising rather than an event, or attempts to bypass moderation.
Context matters
A difficult subject is not automatically prohibited. We consider the event as a whole, including its description, format, venue, safety information and ticketing. A performance, discussion, documentary, workshop or news event can be appropriate when it does not promote harm, abuse or unlawful activity.
How moderation works
We may hold a listing for review, ask for changes, decline it, remove it from the site or suspend an account where these guidelines are not met. We will normally quote the relevant guideline code and explain the next step. Existing live events remain live while an approved edit is being reviewed.
Approval is not an endorsement or guarantee of an event. We may act on reports, new information or safety concerns after publication.
Questions or a review
Think we made the wrong call? Use the contact form and include the event name. Our Terms of Service also apply.
